Every beginning has an end….and a beginning

by Janice-author on September 8, 2011

Well, one year has gone by in a hurry. I jumped into my new contract with a commitment and passion that I was going to make a difference. Ha, the difference it made on me was remarkable. That’s all one can really talk about, is how it affected them, due to not knowing what people think, in general.

What I learned about myself, is that I like people. Owners, team members, customers….I like them all. The honour to lead is exactly that for me…an honour. I am constantly learning from everyone around me, no matter what the title you may or may not have. Chef’s, servers, dish engineers, vendors, tradesmen, repairmen, musicians…it’s a wacky trade that restaurant biz.

I also learned when you work for anyone…their wish is your command. No matter the request as long as your on the clock, it builds a simple and powerful thing called trust. Once the trust is established the relationship and the business can move forward, the ideas can be executed and money will be made.

For the most part family business can be toxic, however I have witnessed the other side. The positive and full of love side. I have seen it in action, and been on the good end of it…and it’s amazing. In between all the lines of opinions, and the hierarchy of the family, it was a great lesson for me to watch as we all worked towards a common goal with TRUST, it is an experience that I am grateful for.

And you find the sense of humour in the characters that you lead, and work with. You find that if they are willing to give an inch, don’t take a mile. Just work on the trust by being there everyday and be compassionate about their life and job.

All in all, there were so many great experiences to launching my own company and securing a contract with a family that brought spiritualism, kindness and love into their everyday actions while running their companies and renewed my faith in the business world …..it can be done, we can do it with soul.

Shameless Self Promotion

by Janice-author on May 31, 2011

I have never had a problem stretching out my hand and introducing myself. I am a natural and as I get older I realize what a skill it is. I am driven because I love people, being around them, learning from their experiences. So why wouldn’t I want to introduce myself?

As I watch the younger generation, it seems to be a lost art. 3 out of 10 people I interview have little confidence in their abilities and that is amazing to me, as they have no idea how bright their light shines. I can see the possibilities they have, and know that it will be life’s experience that will lead them to their passion, some roads will be bumpier than others, some roads will be uphill and windy. Yet, like those that have gone before us….they will choose their own path of Shameless Self Promotion, motivated by what they crave……love, acceptance and grace. No longer are the  days slaving at a job for 30 years, like our parents, for the up and coming generations, they will follow their heart. They will be brave and different, they will embrace causes we thought trite. They will be their version of happiness and joy…because they will surround themselves with people who will propel them to their heart’s desire. Whether it’s their parents, their teachers or their friends….this I know for sure they will garner the support of those they follow and those they trust. I like the look of our future leaders, they will be better than us with kindness and compassion….once they tap that resource of their true passion.

“Y” at work

April 8, 2011

Working with a wide range of age groups, I find myself chuckling at the antics. It is a constant reminder that I too was young and had a ton of energy and perhaps a few uneducated opinions. I like to think I have more educated opinions as I get older and to be honest I [...]

Magnum comes alive…..

April 6, 2011

I have been working diligently with my client and getting the word out about Magnum for last while. I continue to develop and document what actions and results I have had with my client in their businesses, and now looking back to the beginning of this journey I feel as I have been right on point.   My clients have a great [...]
